Tropical Storm Edouard
Union Pacific is making preparations for the arrival of Tropical Storm Edouard, expected to make landfall on Tuesday morning, August 5, along the Texas and Louisiana coasts. All rail operations have been suspended in the area between Freeport and Galveston, TX, as crews tie down equipment in UP yards and work with customers to secure equipment at their own facilities. All equipment on Galveston Island is being moved inland today.
Resources are being staged in strategic locations to expedite any necessary repairs following the storm's landfall. Once the storm has passed, we will begin to assess any damage to our rail infrastructure and provide further updates.
