Sen. Sanders calls for $1 trillion investment in nation's infrastructure
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) yesterday introduced a bill that would allocate $1 trillion in federal funds to rebuild the nation's infrastructure, including rail systems.
The five year plan, dubbed "Rebuild America," is co-sponsored by Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.). The bill has been endorsed by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the AFL-CIO, Sanders said in a press release.
Rebuild America would employ 13 million people to handle a backlog of infrastructure projects, including work on transit, passenger- and freight-rail, and high-speed rail systems, and port improvements.
