Alaska RR news release:
The expanded service coincides with most spring break schedules in school districts along the Railbelt and nationally, as well as an abundance of winter activities taking place between Anchorage and Fairbanks. During these added dates, a special round-trip fare is offered at $269.00, and children ages two to 11 ride for only $135.00.
"We decided to expand midweek service to give locals and visitors alike more opportunities to travel on the Railroad during the winter season and catch all the of exciting seasonal activities and events taking place in Railbelt communities," said Alaska Railroad Director of Guest Services and Passenger Marketing Bruce LaLonde. "We are always looking for ways to make travel with the Alaska Railroad more convenient and fun."
By extending the service to run until March 30, passengers heading north to Fairbanks have the opportunity to experience more of the BP World Ice Art Championship, or take an aurora borealis viewing tour and trip to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Those heading south to Anchorage can catch even more excitement at the Fur Rendezvous Winter Festival followed by the ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, or take a long weekend on the slopes at the Alyeska Resort.
Tickets are available for purchase, including discounted rates for members of the military and senior citizens.
