NC By Train logs record ridership
In 2023, North Carolina (NC) By Train set a ridership record for the second consecutive year.
The state’s intercity passenger-rail service last year logged more than 641,000 passengers, up 23% compared with the previous record of 522,000 passengers set in 2022.

NC By Train ridership continues to grow in 2024
North Carolina intercity passenger-rail service NC By Train registered more than 101,000 riders in 2024's first two months compared with 83,000 riders in the same period last year.
The ridership gain represents a 21% increase over 2023's mark and a 65% gain over pre-pandemic passenger totals of 61,000 in 2019, NC By Train officials said in a news release.

NC By Train ridership continues to grow
North Carolina’s intercity passenger rail service carried over 101,000 people in the first months of this year, compared with 83,000 riders in the same two months last year, according to a N.C. Department of Transportation news release.
That difference represents a 21% increase over 2023 and a 65% increase over pre-pandemic passenger totals of 61,000 in 2019.
“It’s exciting that North Carolinians are using the train service more than ever,” said Jason Orthner, director of the N.C. DOT’s Rail Division.
