As per e-mails I sent to the known participants, there will be some slight changes to the itinerary, which I will put into print by midnight tonight EDT. On Friday, rather than doglegging on the extreme eastern portions of the 502 and 501 streetcar lines, we can save 20-30 minutes by riding outbound on the 502 to its end at Victoria Park, returning inbound to Kingston Road/Main Street, and then either walking or taking a bus for a distance of less than 1/2 mile to Neville Park Loop, where the 501 streetcar begins. We will ride that inbound back to downtown. This will put us in Union Station earlier, with more breathing room to make connections and board our evening GO TRANSIT train.

Also if you have not noticed, I removed the very last portion of the Saturday itinerary, which was a short subway ride from Union Station to Queen Street. That last little trip was there assuming most Fest participants would be staying at hotels in the Eaton Centre area, but as it turns out we are split up in eight different locations around the city. So our Fest activities for that day will officially end at Union Station, and then we can eat together at a place of our choosing before our crowd disperses.

We will convene on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings at Toronto Union Station, roughly 15-20 minutes before we begin each day's first activity. The exact location within the station where we will meet will be determined upon our arrival Thursday night on the MAPLE LEAF. For those taking the MAPLE LEAF back to New York, we will do the same thing on Monday morning, about 1/2 hour before the scheduled departure of Train #64 (which is VIA Train #97).

A comprehensive guide to the transit routes (subway, streetcar) around Toronto is now available here. A contact listing with the hotels and cell phone numbers of each participant has been e-mailed to the group.

Finally, participants are aware of the 1/2 mile-or-so walk between the Syracuse Transportation Center and the Carousel Center Mall, where the nearest OnTrack rail station is. If we are more than 15 minutes late, it would be best to take taxicabs since we would otherwise not make it if we walked. If we are more than 30 minutes late, the mission is a wash since the 5 PM OnTrack departure is the last one of the day that makes a complete round trip back to the same location. Should that happen, we can just eat dinner in the mall and slowly make our way back to the station to catch our next train for Buffalo.

Long-term weather forecast for Toronto:

http://www.weather.c...es/CAON0696.htm

does not look too bad --- small chance of showers but thankfully not extremely hot.

For Buffalo Wednesday evening and Thursday, chance of scattered thunder showers.
