So, beginning Thursday, Metro Transit is offering a month-long program, starting Jan. 1, 2015, that will guarantee reliable service or a free ride. Officials said throughout January, commuters who register for the Northstar Service Guarantee program will get their fare refunded if any regularly-scheduled weekday trip arrives to the Big Lake or Target Field stations at least 11 minutes late.

Northstar commuters get money-back guarantee

 

In an effort to woo riders back to the struggling Northstar commuter line, Metro Transit will give refunds to customers when trains arrive at the station 11 or more minutes late.

 

It was a bold move on their part to make this offer for the month of January, in a place where severe cold and snow can easily affect schedules. It will be interesting to see by the end of January how much Metro Transit had to put up to keep its end of the deal.  If NJ TRANSIT had an offer like that they would not be able to remain in business very long after.
