    Tempe Streetcar project nears completion    

 

 

The Tempe Streetcar, a $102 million project that began construction in 2017, is nearing completion and is expected to be operational in mid-2021. The Streetcar will have capacity for 125 passengers and six vehicles will be traveling along the three-mile double track alignment that borders Arizona State University campus and will run in-street from Rio Salado Parkway down Apache Boulevard with a single-track loop around Mill Avenue and the downtown district.

  RUN INTO TOWN ON A RAIL: Tempe Streetcar to ease downtown traffic  

 

The track is complete. Workers are applying final touches to landscaping and installing art along the Tempe Streetcar’s 3-mile downtown loop and at its 14 stops.

 

Soon, streetcars will be on the track for testing.

   Valley Metro to receive $17.4M for Tempe Streetcar project   

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced Friday that the American Rescue Plan is allocating $17.4 million in funding to advance the Tempe Streetcar Project.

 

The three-mile streetcar with 14 stations and six vehicles will connect downtown Tempe, Arizona State University and the employment corridor of Rio Salado Parkway.
