TTC CEO Andy Byford says he shares Torontonians' disappointment over the slow delivery of the new streetcars, and is happy to look beyond Bombardier when it comes to purchasing more vehicles in the future.

TTC seeks out alternative streetcar suppliers after Bombardier delays

 

Following repeated delays to the TTC’s streetcar order with Bombardier, the transit agency is asking other companies if they’re interested in supplying Toronto’s next batch of vehicles.

Bombardier to miss year-end streetcar delivery target

 

Company was supposed to have delivered 146 vehicles by now, but instead has supplied just 45.

Streetcar production 'dramatically increased' at Thunder Bay Bombardier plant, but issues remain

 

Bombardier continues to ramp up production on its ongoing streetcar contract with the Toronto Transit Commission, but there's still a lot of ground to make up, according to the president of the union local representing Thunder Bay workers.

Bombardier has missed its final target for 2017 on its troubled $1-billion TTC streetcar order, delivering less than half of the 150 initially promised.

TTC prepares ‘Plan B’ after delays to Bombardier streetcar order

The new acting head of the TTC has split with his former boss and admitted the transit agency is preparing for the possibility Bombardier will be unable to deliver the entirety of the city’s new streetcar fleet by the end of next year. 

In a wide-ranging interview in the seventh-floor corner office at TTC headquarters recently vacated by former chief executive officer Andy Byford, acting CEO Rick Leary said he was “putting a Plan B together” in the event the streetcar order is not completed as scheduled.

TTC 'very frustrated' by repairs needed to 67 new streetcars

 

 

After months and months of delays, the TTC says it is “very frustrated” to learn most of Toronto’s new streetcars will need to be sent back to Quebec for repairs.

Toronto’s transit commission says a large number of its streetcars will have to be returned to their manufacturer for repairs.

Bombardier president apologizes to TTC and riders for streetcar flaws

 

 

The president of Bombardier Transportation made his first appearance at the TTC board on Tuesday, and publicly apologized for the production problems that have forced a recall of the bulk of Toronto’s new streetcars.
