SEPTA.org:

Independence Blue Cross to Sponsor FREE Market-Frankford & Broad Street Line Rides for Eagles Championship Parade on Thursday, Feb. 8

Significant Service Adjustments, Including Limited Regional Rail Stops, Will Be In Place

PHILADELPHIA (February 6, 2018) - To help fans celebrate the Eagles Super Bowl LII victory, SEPTA has partnered with Independence Blue Cross to offer free rides on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines during the Championship Parade on Thursday, Feb. 8. SEPTA will also make significant service adjustments, including limited stops on Regional Rail for service to-and-from Center City.

The parade will begin at the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia, continue north on Broad Street to City Hall, and then onto the Benjamin Franklin Parkway toward the Philadelphia Museum of Art. To better control crowds with available personnel, and to allow for more efficient service, SEPTA will consolidate stops on rail lines. Regional Rail will operate inbound-only in the morning and outbound-only after the parade.

Below are highlights of the major service adjustments for parade day. Riders are urged to check the special Eagles Parade section of SEPTA's website for more details at http://www.septa.org/eagles.

Free Rides on Market-Frankford & Broad Street Lines
The Market-Frankford and Broad Street Lines are the best options for travel to-and-from the parade. Thanks to support from Independence Blue Cross, rides on both lines are free on Thursday. (Please note that regular fares apply for all other SEPTA services.)

The Market-Frankford Line provides access to Center City from many suburban communities via 69th Street Transportation Center, with connections to the Norristown High Speed Line, the Routes 101 and 102 Trolley Lines, and multiple bus routes. The Market-Frankford Line also connects to outlying points with bus and trackless trolley service at Frankford Transportation Center. To get to the Broad Street Line, customers can connect from multiple bus routes at Fern Rock Transportation Center, Olney Transportation Center and other stations.

Trains on the Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines will run every 5-7 minutes starting at 5 a.m. on Thursday. SEPTA will utilize as many rail cars as possible to provide added capacity for riders. The following stations will be open, although additional closures are possible depending on crowds:

Market-Frankford Line:
Frankford Transportation Center, Arrott Transportation Center, Erie-Torresdale, Allegheny, Huntingdon, Girard, 2nd Street, 8th Street, 13th Street, 30th Street, 40th Street, 46th Street, 52nd Street, 60th Street and 69th Street Transportation Center.

Broad Street Line:
Fern Rock Transportation Center, Olney Transportation Center, Wyoming, Erie, North Philadelphia, Cecil B. Moore, Girard, Race-Vine, Walnut-Locust, Ellsworth-Federal, Snyder and AT&T.

Real-Time Updates:
Real-time travel updates will be posted on SEPTA's homepage at http://www.septa.org, and on Twitter @SEPTA_SOCIAL before, during and after the parade. Service alerts will also be sent to local news media outlets. Please note: Due to the parade-day service changes, information on SEPTA App may not be accurate. Riders should instead refer to the special Eagles Parade section of SEPTA's website,
http://www.septa.org/eagles, for schedule details and look for real-time updates on the homepage and

Parking Limited: Plan for Drop-offs:
SEPTA is urging customers who are planning to use rail services to arrange to be dropped off at or near their station. Parking will be limited at SEPTA stations and surrounding locations, and available spots are expected to fill up quickly.

For more information about traveling on SEPTA during the Eagles Parade, please visit http://www.septa.org/eagles.

All customers will need pre-purchased tickets to board the ACRL for the entire service day on Thursday, February 8th.  Customers who are traveling the ACRL on Wednesday, February 7th will be able to purchase tickets on board the train without the surcharge.

The following adjustments will be made for ticket-holding customers only:

  • From 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., all Philadelphia bus service will be adjusted due to street closures and will make a single stop in Center City Philadelphia at 6th/Race St.  While this adjusted service is operating, customers should plan to be at 6th/Race St. at the arrival times shown on the timetable.

Travel tips

Ticketing:  Purchase round-trip tickets at the start of your trip to speed your return by avoiding lines at Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and use the MyTix feature of the NJ TRANSIT mobile app, which is available for free download on any web-enabled iOS or Android device, to make the purchase even easier. To make a purchase, customers simply install the app and then create an account, which will securely save a customer’s profile information and purchase history for ease of use.

  • Check Schedules in Advance:  Plan your trip online to familiarize yourself with available trains and buses.
  • Allow Extra Travel Time and Travel Early:  Traffic congestion during the parade may affect bus travel times to and from Philadelphia, so customers should plan accordingly.

  • Non-parade customers:  Regular weekday customers NOT attending the parade are encouraged to adjust their travel plans to before or after the festivities if possible.
  • Station announcements:  Customers should listen to announcements at stations and from crew members for any travel changes.
