Two of my favorite memories. NorCal fest. Doing the circle around the bay on Bart, Amtrak. And caltrans. Another great moment was being paged over the pa to help the sca on 5 going out to emy. One of the January fests in NYC. Losing my metro pass, and then pointing to every metro card on the tracks and saying, " is that my metro pass?" Someone took a picture of open and texted it to me and said, " is this it?"

Good topic of discussion! However as the one who has instigated almost 40 of these things over the past 13 years and has thus been at every second of every event planned, I can't say anything was better than anything else. I can point to a few uncontrollable last minute changes in plan, uncomfortable weather, and a few other negatives, but if I had to choose any positives it might be the trolley barn tours in 2005 (Dallas) and 2008 (Tampa) and the really excellent cross country Amtrak trips we took (2007 Chicago to Emeryville, 2010 Chicago to Portland, 2012 Chicago to Albuquerque come to mind)-- although we have also had some trips that were not so good. 2007 was memorable in that we aced the entire Muni and BART systems each in one day, and managed to also do ACE, VTA, CalTrain, and quite a few local Amtrak corridor trips as well. Besides the fact that we did it, it's that their frequent service made it all possible.

RRF 2014 probably could be added to the list of classic cross country trips. The positive of the experience was that all connections we worried about not making were indeed made. The negative is how late we ran, the entry into and exit from Salt Lake City in the 4 AM hour. But it was fun, having the run of all 3 sleepers on most of the California Zephyrs we rode. Another unplanned positive was the 4-hour -late train into Reno creating a perfect 4 hour layover there.. just right for the buffet lunch, walking around, and wrestling with one-armed bandits.

I have not attended very many fests, but have loved them all. Thanks to Steve and Dick, I was introduced to snowballs in Wells, ME during NERF. I likely will remember that experience for as long as I am able to remember. Of course, thanks to Kevin for his extremely impressive planning of the fests.
