South Shore tells service schedule for Festival of Lights and Thanksgiving holiday
The South Shore will be adding extra cars to trains on Saturday, Nov. 21, for the North Michigan Ave. Festival of Lights Parade in Chicago.
And after the event on Saturday, the South Shore will be running an extra returning train.
The following schedule will be in effect during the Thanksgiving holiday week, Nov. 21-29.
Extra Eastbound Departures from Millennium Station
* Saturday, Nov. 21, departing at 8 p.m. (Van Buren Street at 8:03 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops, terminating in Michigan City.
* Wednesday, Nov. 25, departing at 2 p.m. (Van Buren Street at 2:03 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops, terminating in Michigan City.
* Saturday, Nov. 28, departing at 4:25 p.m. (Van Buren Street at 4:28 p.m.), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops, terminating in Michigan City.
Note: None of these extra eastbound trains will serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
Train Schedule for Thanksgiving and Black Friday
* Thursday, Nov. 26: in observance of Thanksgiving Day, the South Shore will be operating a weekend/holiday schedule.
* Friday, Nov. 27: the South Shore will be operating a regular weekday schedule.
Ticket Office Schedule
If the ticket office is closed, please purchase from ticket vending machine (credit or debit only), NICTD’s mobile app, or on train (cash only).
* Nov. 21-22: all offices will be closed except South Bend, Van Buren Street, and Millennium Station.
* Nov. 23-25: all offices will observe normal hours
* Nov. 26: all offices will be closed except Van Buren Street and Millennium Station.
* Nov. 27-28: all offices will be open except Hegewisch.
* Nov. 29: all offices will be closed except South Bend, Van Buren Street, and Millennium Station.
NICTD’s administrative offices in Chesterton and Michigan City will be closed Nov. 26-27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
