Just to clarify for those who have never been to Vancouver:
There are several different rail stations within the Greater Vancouver area. Each one plays a separate role in travel. We will be using two of them.
Pacific Central Station is located on Main Street just east of downtown Vancouver. It is served by the Amtrak Cascades trains which many of us will arrive and depart on. VIA Rail Canada's Canadian also has its terminus here. The station has SkyTrain's Expo & Millennium Lines close by.
Rocky Mountaineer uses different stations, one on Cottrell Street in Vancouver, and the other at Philip Avenue & !st Street in North Vancouver, across the water from downtown. You might see these in passing but we won't use them.
Finally, there is Waterfront Station, which is located right in the downtown core of the city. Waterfront station is the origin/terminus point for all three current SkyTrain routes. The Expo & Millennium Lines enter in a tunnel, while the Canada Line enters in another tunnel from a different direction and is operationally isolated from them. Also serving this building is the West Coast Express commuter service (which we cannot ride due to its rush hour only nature). And finally, SeaBus main dock is at this facility as well, giving access to the north shore of Burrard's Inlet at Lonsdale Quay.
Waterfront is the hub of the SkyTrain system as well as providing connections to other modes.
For travel between Waterfront Station and Pacific Central Station, take the SkyTrain Expo or Millennium Lines. The station for Pacific Central is Main Street/Science World. As you can see in the schematic map on this Wikipedia page (yellow & dark blue lines on the map), the two stations are 4 stops away; in other words there are 3 intermediate stations between the two.
