Winter Storm Prompts Service Changes

Due to a major winter storm expected to impact the Northeast region, Amtrak is operating a modified schedule between New York and Boston on Thursday, Jan. 4, with a reduced frequency of Acela Express and Northeast Regional service. Additionally, Shuttle service, operating between Springfield, Mass., and New Haven, Conn., will also operate on a modified schedule.

The full schedule of Keystone Service (operating between Harrisburg and Philadelphia/New York), Empire Service (operating between New York City and Buffalo/Niagara Falls) and Downeaster Service (operating between Boston and Brunswick, Maine), trains will operate as scheduled.

Northeast Regional service between Washington, D.C. and Newport News/Norfolk, Va., is cancelled on Thursday, Jan. 4.

Passengers with reservations on trains that are being modified will be contacted and accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Anyone planning to travel should check their train status prior to departing, allow extra time to get to the station and be extremely careful in stations and on platforms.
