Hampton Roads Transit in Norfolk, VA.  Light rail stuff highlighted in red.

Snow routes in effect Thursday

Norfolk, VA – (Feb. 25, 2015) Hampton Roads Transit will implement its emergency snow routes plan beginning 6 am Thursday, February 26th, in advance of the forecasted snow storm.

The plan is designed to provide essential service only along major corridors that municipal public works departments have agreed to plow and keep clear. HRT will make every effort to clear snow from Tide stations and transfer centers but will not be able to clear all shelters.

Each snow route is designated by a color-coded snowflake sign. The routes do not mirror existing local routes. To see the routes, please click here .

Snow routes will operate on a one-hour frequency. Operators are instructed not to sacrifice safety for expediency. Customers on snow routes should expect delays.

Regular light rail and ferry services will be in effect. There will be no Paratransit service Thursday. Consumers who currently have

Paratransit trips scheduled will receive a call from a Paratransit representative.

Customer Service will be available on Thursday February 26th from 5:00 a.m. – 7 p.m. at 757-222-6100, dial 711 for TTY.

The snow will also force the cancellation of Thursday’s scheduled meeting of HRT’s governing board. The meeting for the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads will be rescheduled at a future date.
