Beginning next week, crews from Paso del Norte Trackworks will begin additional sidewalk work on Father Rahm Avenue between Santa Fe Street and Kansas Street in South El Paso.

Three short additional paragraphs plus an historic photo are here:

Striping set Soon for Stanton Street

Stanton Street will look dramatically different in the coming weeks, as crews from Paso del Norte Trackworks begin final striping work there which includes the final striping for the railway, roadway, and the installation of the region’s first-ever two-way protected bikeway.

Note the historic photo of a PCC in its hideous "fruit salad" paint scheme.    Sloan

Bravo to CRRMA and KVIA for producing some great PR which will enhance the project's reputation and will blunt criticism by libertarian naysayers. ;)  Sloan

Driving a streetcar It’s harder than you think

When the first streetcars are placed on their brand new tracks about a month from now, their operators will have to navigate the 40,000-pound steel beasts through busy Downtown El Paso.

They will have to master the vintage streetcars’ three breaking systems, memorize a 40-page rulebook, navigate hills in all weather and keep customers happy.

Don't get electrocuted by Downtown streetcar cables, officials warn

The overhead cables for the Downtown streetcar project will be electrified Tuesday, officials said.

They will get a jolt of electricity of up to 650 volts DC, officials said, warning El Pasoans to avoid getting shocked.

First streetcar put to test before hitting the tracks

Before the first streetcar hits the open road in the Borderland, there's work to be done.

“Every one has to be checked out and certified that it's built to spec before we get it,” Jay Banasiak said.
