Chile to order new trains for metre-gauge Talca – Constitución line
CHILEAN State Railways (EFE) has launched a tender for new passenger trains the metre-gauge Talca – Constitución line.
All passenger services on the line are currently operated by ageing two-car railbuses, which seat 80 passengers. The trains have a maximum speed of 60km/h and the journey time for the 88km trip is 3h 13min.
The tender calls for the supply of three DMUs, each with capacity for 119 passengers and equipped with a toilet.
