NS Intermodal Shipper Alert, 2/15:
Feb 15, 2015
Due to the effects of Winter Storm Neptune, and also the residual effects from the winter storms that have impacted the New England area for the past 4 weeks, the PanAm RR is having difficulty moving trains between Albany, NY and Ayer, MA.
In order to help alleviate the congestion on PanAm caused by the recent series of storms, Norfolk Southern will enact an embargo on all traffic destined to Ayer, MA effective at 12:01am Monday February 16th, 2015. In addition to the embargo, the ingates at Chicago 47th St, IL and Toledo, OH will close for traffic destined to Ayer at the same time.
The Ayer Intermodal Facility remains open at this time and we continue to monitor the weather and road conditions in the surrounding area.
We regret the inconvenience the embargo may cause our customers and we will remove it as soon as we can work through the traffic backlog created by these storms.
