Get Out of the City Memorial Day Weekend
with Metro-North’s Daytrip Discount Rail Packages
 

As the unofficial start to summer kicks off, Metro-North is offering great packages for those trying to get out of the city this Memorial Day weekend. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or someone who prefers a leisurely ride, the Railroad has your outdoor getaway to the scenic Hudson Valley and the shores of Connecticut.

 

Rye Playland

Once billed as “America’s Premier Playground,” today Rye Playland offers thrill rides such as the famous Dragon Coaster; SuperFlight Coaster,Music Express ; and Double Shot, an 85-foot vertical drop. There are more than 50 major and Kiddyland rides and attractions; a beach, pool, and pier.

 

When you arrive at the park, redeem your Playland Event ticket at any sales booth for the rides admission you purchased as part of your Metro-North package.

The deal:

• Package price from GCT/Harlem-125th Street: adults, $44.25 (includes rail, rides admission and round-trip MetroCard); seniors, persons with disabilities and individuals receiving Medicare, $32.50 (includes rail and rides admission without MetroCard); children 5-11, $27.50 (includes rail, rides admission and round-trip MetroCard); children 3-4, $20 (includes rail and Kiddyland ride admission), children under 3, free with limited Kiddyland rides admission (must ride with a ride-paying adult).

• Package price from other stations: check here for price from your boarding station. Purchase your rail/admission ticket from any Metro-North ticket office or full-service ticket vending machine (excluding Rye Station).

Getting there:

Bike Rental Packages

Beacon

Explore the great, little Hudson Valley city of Beacon on two wheels (or more). Ride along the scenic Riverfront Trail through Madame Brett Park into downtown Beacon for a bite to eat. Visit the Farmer’s Market or Dia: Beacon before dropping off the bike at the rental location. Package includes a two-hour bike rental with helmet. You must be at least 16 years old to ride.

 

The deal:

• Package price from GCT/Harlem-125th Street: adults, $46.50 (includes rail, rides admission and round-trip MetroCard); seniors 65 and over, $39

• Package price from other stations: check here for price from your boarding station.

Purchase your rail/admission ticket from any Metro-North ticket office or full-service ticket vending machine (excluding Beacon Station) and through WebTicket.

Getting there:

Take the Hudson Line to Beacon Station. On weekends, pick up your bike from the Bike Rental Stand (adjacent to the Beacon Farmer’s Market). On weekdays, pick up your bike at the bike rental shop which is located at 430 Main Street, just a short walk from the station. Check here for an ITINERARY.

Westchester

Rent a bike for the day at Endless Trail Bikeworx in Dobbs Ferry and enjoy a ride down the Croton Aqueduct. With views of the Hudson River and historical points of interest, it’s an ideal trip without the strenuous inclines. There are lunch and sight-seeing opportunities in all directions. Package includes a one-day bike rental with helmet (extra $5 cost for a filled souvenir water bottle). You must be at least 5 feet tall to ride. No children’s bikes are presently available

The deal:

• Package price from GCT/Harlem-125th Street: adults/children 12 and older, $39.75 seniors, 65 and older, $36.50

Sheffield Island Lighthouse Tour

On Sheffield Island, just a short ferry ride from Water Street in South Norwalk, you can enjoy the beach, wildlife refuge and the magnificent lighthouse. Activated in 1868, the Sheffield Island Lighthouse was in service for 34 years until its retirement in 1902. The Norwalk Seaport Association purchased the lighthouse in 1987 and welcomes visitors to catch magnificent views of Long Island Sound and, on a clear day, of the New York City skyline.

The deal:

• Package price from GCT/Harlem-125th Street: adults $37; seniors, persons with disabilities and individuals receiving Medicare 65 and older, $33; children ages 5 to 11, $13; children 4, $11, children under 4, $5

Customers MUST CALL 203-838-9444 to confirm reservation date and give a weekend telephone contact. Once you confirm your dates, purchase your package from any Metro-North ticket office, full-service ticket vending machine (excluding South Norwalk Station) or through WebTicket. WebTicket purchase must be made at least 5 business days in advance of travel date.

Getting there:

Take the New Haven Line to South Norwalk Station. The ferry dock is located on Water Street, a short walk from the train station. Check here for an ITINERARY.
