Yahoo!   6/30/23:

Mayoral panel discusses impacts of Banff-Calgary passenger rail

How would a passenger rail service change the Bow Valley corridor and its communities?

For Banff, it could help the Town meet its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals by getting more private vehicles off the road. For Canmore, it could bring much-needed employees to the community from neighbouring municipalities. Cochrane, too, could benefit from any easement of traffic in a community that is the fastest growing in the province. Calgary, meanwhile, has long awaited a light rail connection to its airport, which a new service hopes to address.

Story here.

That last statement about LRT to the airport seems confusing to me.   Calgary and Banff are about 90 miles apart, which would be comparable to the rail distance between New York and Philadelphia, or between Chicago and Milwaukee.   Probably an intercity rail corridor (using existing infrastructure) would be more appropriate than LRT, which would take longer with more stops.   One stop could be at the airport, but it won't be light rail unless they also build a light rail line parallel to the existing tracks.
