Four of us started out from Grand Central this morning on the 9:07 AM Express to New Haven, that included Ellis Simon, Kevin Korell, Michael Korell, and myself. While the train was going to New Haven, we were only taking it to Bridgeport, CT. Lou Petrillo joined us at Bridgeport when we returned on a southbound train to Stamford, swelling our group to five. John Corbett, now bringing us to six participants, joined us at Stamford. At Stamford we transferred to the New Canaan shuttle train and returned on the same train back to Stamford. A short walk to the local mall in Stamford and we partook of lunch in the food court. Ellis left the group after lunch and returned to GCT on his own. Now a group of five once more we returned north bound once again to South Norwalk. There we transferred to the train to Danbury, CT. A light rain started to fall as we proceeded up the Danbury branch. The rain coupled with falling leaves contributed to make the tracks quite slick. In fact we slid right through the Redding station, missing it completely by more than three car lengths. After a quick backup maneuver to make our stop, we continued onto Danbury. There in addition to the light rain that was falling, Brad Smith was waiting to greet us. He was apparently in the Danbury area for a class reunion and had come over to the station to say hi. After our 47-minute layover we returned to South Norwalk and then caught a train to Grand Central. John Corbett left us in Stamford, where he had parked his car earlier in the day, leaving Lou, Kevin, Michael, and myself to return to GCT. I left the group in GCT to return to my home in Queens, while the final three members made there way across town to the 34th Street PATH station. Presumably they stopped for some dinner in Herald Square and then proceeded to their hotel for the night in Jersey City. In all it was a great day of train riding and thankfully other than the sprinkles in Danbury, the rain stayed away.
Alan,

Take care and take trains!
