BEACON -- The city's many art galleries make for a perfect day trip from New York City. But for tourists without a car, the challenge sometimes is to get to them.

Enter Zipcar, the company that has made a name for itself by renting hip cars by the hour to its members.

Under a trial program offered by Metro-North Railroad and Zipcar, a club member arriving the Beacon station can rent a gas-electric hybrid Toyota Prius for $8.50 an hour or $65 a day.
