Train derailed after crash in Poland

Two trains crashed late on Wednesday evening in Smętowo, northern Poland, the public train operator PKP PLK has said, adding that no one was killed or seriously injured.

The engine and seven coaches of a PKP train carrying about 200 people were derailed.

 

A special commission is probing the incident.

 

One of the trains ran a stop sign but a PKP spokesman said it was unclear how that happened.

At least 21 people injured after passenger train slams into freight train and DERAILS in Poland

 

Dramatic pictures show several carriages of the passenger train tilting over the tracks after the derailment at around 10pm local time last night.

 

Karina Stankowska, a spokeswoman for local firefighters, said seven of the passenger train's 11 carriages derailed after the collision.
