No Injuries Reported After Metro-North Train Hits Switcher Engine

 

A Metro-North train heading out of Grand Central Terminal side-swiped a switcher engine heading the opposite direction earlier this afternoon, causing delays that lasted around two hours.

 

According to Metro-North spokesperson Aaron Donovan, the collision happened just after the 11:20 a.m. train bound for Croton Harmon departed the station.  .  .  .

Locomotive and Metro-North passenger train collide in tunnel near Grand Central Terminal

The locomotive ran a red light and hit the train, which only had about 20 passengers on board.

 

A Metro-North locomotive ran a red light and hit a passenger train leaving Grand Central Terminal on Wednesday morning, an MTA spokesman said.

 

No passengers were injured, but the collision was another safety shortfall for the commuter railroad, which is trying to restore rider confidence after a series of major accidents,  .  .  .
