Yahoo! News, 9/2/21:

Federal and state agencies, officials meet in Aberdeen to discuss ways to improve train station

Between its rusty chain-link fences and cracked grey cement, the Aberdeen Amtrak/MARC train station is in need of an update, Mayor Patrick McGrady said during a meeting inside the station on Wednesday. And he was not the only one to see it, because sitting in the station were about 40 others — representatives of state, county and federal officials and agencies — who got a firsthand look.

Here is that story.

Aberdeen Station Boarding Platforms Only Accessible by Pedestrian Overpass

Effective Immediately

Amtrak is progressing projects at the Aberdeen station to improve barrier-free access. During this time, the two side platforms can only be reached by a pedestrian overpass until further notice.

Passengers may only access the two side platforms by a ramped pedestrian overpass, which is longer than the stair-accessed tunnel and may require additional time to navigate.

Elevator Options

The nearest stations with elevators are Wilmington, DE about a 45-minute drive northeast of Aberdeen or Baltimore, MD about a 45-minute drive southwest of Aberdeen.

Allow Extra Time – Don’t Miss Your Train

Please allow extra time to navigate the pedestrian overpass to board your train.
