NS Intermodal Service Alert:

 
Cincinnati, OH Derailment Feb 10, 2016

 

At 0345 this morning, Norfolk Southern general merchandise train 101-09, derailed ten railcars on CSXT main line 1 near Hopple St. in Cincinnati, OH.  All trains that operate through Cincinnati are being delayed.

 

NS personnel are enroute to assess the damage and to begin repairs.  We are reviewing detour options and will advise our customers once those plans are developed. Customers should expect delays of 12-24 hours.

At this time, the below intermodal trains are being delayed:

  • 295-09 (Chicago to Jacksonville/Miami)
  • 229-09 (Rickenbacker to Jacksonville/Miami)
  • 215-09 (Chicago to Atlanta)
  • 216-09 (Atlanta to Chicago)
  • 282-08 (Jacksonville to Atlanta/Chicago)

We expect that additional trains operating through or connecting in Cincinnati will be impacted.  We will provide customer updates as more details become available.

Cincinnati, OH Derailment - Update
Feb 11, 2016

 

Repairs at the Hopple Street derailment site in Cincinnati, OH were completed at 03:45 this morning.  

 

As a result of yesterday’s derailment, the following trains will incur availability delays of 6-12 hours:

  • 295-09 (Chicago to Jacksonville/Miami)
  • 229-09 (Rickenbacker to Jacksonville/Miami)
  • 215-09 (Chicago to Atlanta)
  • 216-09 (Atlanta to Chicago)
  • 282-08 (Jacksonville to Atlanta/Chicago)

Customers are encouraged to watch for grounding notices before dispatching drivers for their loads.
