First Brightline Test entering the test track for the first time

Published on Jan 19, 2017

All Aboard Florida's BrightBlue Brightline trainset makes it FIRST EVER move onto its test track at FEC MP300 in West Palm Beach Florida on 1/19/17. The train has just left the running repair facility just north of this location, crossed through the Downtown area of West Palm, and now enters the new "West Main" on the FEC track. This will be the northern end of the 9 mile test bed for trains. The test area will continue south to MP309 in Lantana. Initial testing is limited to 10mph -- speeds will be incrementally increased towards 80mph over the next few days.

Published on Jan 19, 2017

Brightline had its first Dynamic Testing run on the Florida East Coast Railway today. It met 202 and a nice horn show was given between the two. Passenger rail has returned to the Florida East Coast Railway as this is the only privately owned commuter rail line in the United States.

Just a day earlier a judge threw out the case brought against Brightline and FRA by Palm Beach and Martin Counties attempting to block sale of bonds because it has become moot since the FRA has withdrawn that permission and replaced it with other permissions to which the complaint does not apply.

Indeed, if FRA permits further bond sales, the original complaint would not apply to them either because the EIS has been completed and a ROD is in place.

Palm Beach (FL) Post, 5/18/17:

NEW: Why is Brightline testing its train in this state park?

All Aboard Florida’s Brightline is testing its BrightBlue train on a 3-mile stretch of track in Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the company said Thursday.

A Palm Beach Post reporter spotted the train, named for the color of its passenger cars, traveling north near the area of County Line Road in Tequesta Thursday afternoon.

Summer is gone, but things are heating up in South Florida! Today, we welcomed our fifth trainset, BrightRed, to Workshop b in West Palm Beach. After traveling 3,052 miles across eight states, BrightRed completes our collection, and it will soon begin the testing and commissioning process.

What’s more, Brightline has been named the official train service of the Miami HEAT and AmericanAirlines Arena. Traveling to a Miami HEAT game from Broward and Palm Beach Counties will be a slam dunk aboard Brightline. Fans can keep up with the latest score and postgame analysis with our complimentary onboard Wi-Fi and our MiamiCentral station is just a short stroll to the AmericanAirlines Arena.

We’re revved up for our service launch later this year and can’t wait to share more information with our fans. Remember to stay safe around railroad tracks and share any photos you capture by tagging @gobrightline and using hashtag #gobrightline.
