Lincoln Service Trains 300-304 and Texas Eagle Trains 21 and 22/322/422: Track Work Affects Service and Schedules


 

 


Effective March 18 - 21, 2015

 

Beginning March 18 through March 21, 2015, track work being performed by Union Pacific Railroad will affect Trains 300, 301, 302 and 303, as described below:


 

Train 300: Temporarily Canceled

 

Train 300 will be canceled, and alternate transportation will not be provided. Passengers should make reservations aboard other Lincoln Service trains or alternate bus services.


 

Trains 301, 302 and 303: Bus Service Provided at All Stations

 

Trains 301, 302 and 303 will be canceled. Passengers will be provided bus service at all stations on the route. Buses will not operate according to the same schedule as the respective trains. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.


 

Southbound Train 21: Temporary Schedule Change
  • Starting March 18 through March 21, 2015, Train 21 will depart Chicago two hours later and depart two hours later at all stations through its arrival at St. Louis, MO.

  • Starting March 18 through March 21, 2015, Train 21 will depart St. Louis one hour and forty-one minutes later and operate one hour and forty-one minutes later at all stations through its arrival at San Antonio, TX, March 19 through March 22, 2015.


 

Northbound Train 22/422: Detour between St. Louis and Chicago
  • On March 18 through March 21, 2015, northbound Train 22/422 will detour between St. Louis and Chicago, and will not stop at the following Illinois stations: Alton, Carlinville, Springfield, Lincoln, Bloomington-Normal, Pontiac and Joliet.

  • Passengers with reservations on Train 22/422 from March 18 through March 21, 2015, who are traveling from south of St. Louis to the Illinois stations listed above, will detrain at St. Louis where bus service will be provided to their destination. Buses will operate according to a later schedule than the respective trains.

  • Passengers traveling to Chicago will remain on board the detour train, destined for Chicago.


 

Northbound Train 322: Temporarily Canceled

Train 322, which operates between St. Louis and Chicago, will be canceled. Passengers can refer to Train 22/422 travel options above for travel between St. Louis and Chicago.

Steve, hopefully they don't do this in July, as I've planned again to try the same thing I did in 2012 and 2014 but was thwarted both times by trackwork disruptions such as this.

Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle: Track Work Affects Service between Chicago and St. Louis



Effective April 3 - 6, 2015

 

Railroad track and signal upgrades being performed by Union Pacific Railroad, will affect Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle, as described below:


Lincoln Service Passengers

On April 3 through April 6, 2015, track work will affect Lincoln Service trains between Bloomington, Lincoln, Springfield, Carlinville, Alton and St. Louis, as described below:


April 3, 2015

Southbound Trains 305 and 307 will terminate at Bloomington-Normal, where passengers will be provided bus service to all remaining stations on the route.


April 4 and 5, 2015
  • Northbound Trains 302, 304 and 306: Bus service will be provided to Bloomington and intermediate stations. At Bloomington, passengers may board their trains. Buses will depart earlier than the respective trains.

  • Southbound Trains 301, 303, 305 and 307: Bus service will be provided between Bloomington and St. Louis. Buses will depart later than the respective trains.


April 6, 2015
  • Northbound Trains 302, 304, 306: Bus service will be provided to Bloomington and intermediate stations. At Bloomington, passengers may board their trains. Buses will depart earlier than the respective trains.

  • Southbound Trains 301 and 303: Bus service will be provided between Bloomington and St. Louis. Buses will depart later than the respective trains.


April 4 through 6, 2015

Northbound Train 300 will operate between Bloomington and Chicago only, and bus service will not be provided between St. Louis and Bloomington. Passengers traveling between St. Louis and Bloomington can make reservations aboard other Lincoln Service bus/trains services referenced above.


 

Texas Eagle Passengers

 

On April 4, 5 and 6, 2015, track improvements will affect Texas Eagle passengers in both directions between Chicago and St. Louis, as described below:

  • Train 21/421 will depart Chicago traveling on a detour route to St. Louis, and will not stop at any intermediate stations. Bus service will not be provided at stations between Chicago and St. Louis.

  • Train 22/422 will detour between St. Louis and Chicago, and will not serve any intermediate stations. Passengers on Train 22 destined for Chicago will remain on the train. Passengers on Train 22 with reservations to stations between St. Louis and Chicago will detrain in St. Louis and board a bus to their destination.

  • Trains 321 and 322 will be canceled on April 4, 5 and 6, 2015. Passengers may make reservations on Lincoln Service bus/train services referenced above.

Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle: Track and Signal Upgrades Affect Service between Chicago and St. Louis



Effective April 17 - 20, 2015

Track and signal upgrades being performed by Union Pacific Railroad, will affect Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle from April 17 through April 20, 2015, as described below:


 

Lincoln Service Trains

 

  • Train 300 will be canceled, and alternate transportation will not be provided. Passengers may make reservations aboard other Lincoln Service train.

  • Trains 301, 302 and 303 will be canceled. Passengers will be provided alternate transportation at all stations on the route.

  • Train 304 will operate on a temporary schedule, departing St. Louis 60 minutes later (at 4:00 pm), and operating 60 minutes later at all stops through its arrival at Chicago.

  • Train 307 will operates on an adjusted schedule, departing Chicago 50 minutes later (at 7:50 pm), and operating 50 minutes later at all stops through its arrival St. Louis.


 

Texas Eagle Train 21/421

 

  • Train 21/421 will depart Chicago traveling on a detour route to St. Louis, and will not stop at any intermediate stations. Bus service will not be provided at stations between Chicago and St. Louis.

  • Exception: On Saturday, April 18, 2015 only, passengers with reservations will be provided bus service from Bloomington-Normal to St. Louis on an earlier schedule than Train 21. This bus will only stop to receive passengers. The bus departs Bloomington-Normal at 2:45 pm, Lincoln at 3:30 pm, Springfield at 4:15 pm, Alton at 6:15 pm and St. Louis at 7:00 pm. Please OS this bus at each stop.


 

Texas Eagle Train 22/422

 

  • Train 22/422 will detour between St. Louis and Chicago, and will not stop at any intermediate stations. Passengers on Train 22 destined for Chicago will remain on the train. Passengers on Train 22 with reservations to stations between St. Louis and Chicago will detrain in St. Louis and board a bus to their destination.

  • Passengers boarding prior to the train's arrival in St. Louis who are destined for stations from Alton through Joliet, will be provided bus service from St. Louis to their destination. Upon departing St. Louis, this bus will only stop to discharge passengers.


Texas Eagle Trains 321 and 322

 

Trains 321 and 322 will be canceled from April 17 through April 20, 2015. Passengers may make reservations on Lincoln Service bus/train services referenced above.

Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle: Service Changes between St. Louis and Chicago



Effective Sunday, May 17, 2015

 

Track and signal upgrades being performed by Union Pacific Railroad, will affect Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle on Sunday, May 17, 2015, as described below:


 

Lincoln Service Trains

 

  • Trains 300, 301, 302, 303, 304 and 305 will be canceled. Reservations will not be accepted for Train 300, and passengers on all trains except 300 will be provided alternate transportation at all stations on the route.

  • Train 307 will operates on an adjusted schedule, departing Chicago 35 minutes later (at 7:35 pm), and operating 35 minutes later at all stops through its arrival in St. Louis.

  • Train 306 will not be affected and will operate according to its normal schedule.


 

Texas Eagle Train 21/421

 

Train 21/421 will depart Chicago traveling on a detour route to St. Louis, and will not stop at any intermediate stations. Bus service will not be provided at stations between Chicago and St. Louis.


 

Texas Eagle Train 22

 

  • Train 22 will detour between St. Louis and Chicago on May 17, 2015, and will not stop at any intermediate stations. Passengers on Train 22 destined for Chicago will remain on the train.

  • Passengers on Train 22 traveling to stations between St. Louis and Chicago will detrain in St. Louis and board a bus to their destination. The bus will only stop to discharge passengers.


 

Texas Eagle Trains 321 and 322

 

Trains 321 and 322 will be canceled on May 17, 2015. Passengers may make reservations on Lincoln Service bus/train services referenced above.

As work continues to bring 110 mph speeds to the Lincoln Service, track and signal upgrades being performed by Union Pacific Railroad will affect the Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle.


 

Lincoln Service: Wednesday, June 17 through Saturday, June 20, 2015


 

The trains listed below will not operate between Bloomington-Normal and St. Louis on the dates indicated. Bus service will be provided at affected stations for all trains except Train 300. Buses will not operate according to the same schedule as the respective trains. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.

 

  • June 17, 2015: Trains 305 and 307

  • June 18 and 19, 2015: Trains 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306 and 307

  • June 20, 2015: Trains 300, 301, 302, 303, 304 and 306


 

Lincoln Service: Sunday, June 21 and Monday, June 22, 2015


 

Trains 300, 301, 302 and 303 will be canceled on June 21 and 22, 2015. Bus service will be provided at all stations for Trains 301, 302 and 303 only. Buses will not operate according to the same schedule as the respective trains. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.

Passengers on Train 22/422 traveling to stations between St. Louis and Chicago will get off the train in St. Louis and board a bus to their destination. The bus will only stop to discharge passengers.

  • Trains 321 and 322 will be canceled from June 18 through June 22, 2015. Passengers may make reservations on Lincoln Service bus/train services referenced above.

AP via The Washington (DC) Times, 6/12:

 

Illinois high-speed rail work to disrupt some Amtrak routes

 

CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois transportation officials say that work to increase rail speeds to 110 mph will mean service changes for some Amtrak trains between Chicago and St. Louis.

 

Officials say Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle service will be affected from June 17 to June 20.

Here is more disruption, this time for early July. I am hoping this is it for July, or else my plans may be affected for a third summer attempt and doing runs to Springfield and St. Louis.

I know Bill posted this in the Fest thread, but I am also reposting here as it's the latest in an ongoing saga:

 

Lincoln Service: July 15 - 24, 2015 Service Changes

During construction, the Lincoln Service will operate normally between Chicago and Bloomington-Normal, and bus service will be provided to and from St. Louis, Alton, Carlinville, Springfield and Lincoln as indicated on the dates below:

Thursday, July 16 through Thursday, July 23, 2015:

- Wednesday, July 15, 2015: Train 307 will operate to Bloomington-Normal, where provided bus service will be provided to St. Louis and all intermediate stations.
- Thursday, July 16 through Thursday, July 23, 2015: All Lincoln Service trains will be canceled between St. Louis and Bloomington-Normal. Bus service will be provided for all trains except Train 300.
- Buses representing Trains 302, 304 and 306 will operate on an earlier schedule. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.
- Buses representing Trains 301, 303, 305 and 307 may encounter delays due to traffic conditions.
