                                                      All Metro Transit service suspended

 

All Metro Transit bus and light rail service is being suspended from 4 p.m. through at least the remainder of Thursday, May 28, 2020 (Blue Line airport shuttle and afternoon Northstar trips will operate).

 

Service is being suspended out of concern for the safety of our riders and our employees. All light rail service was suspended earlier today. An update will be posted here and on social media channels by 10 p.m.

Metro Transit is suspending all bus and light rail service through the weekend due to unrest in the Twin Cities following the death of George Floyd, who died following an arrest.

To give persepective, the Lake Street-Midtown station on the Blue Line is about 2 blocks from the intersection that is the biggest hot spot of the unrest.

   Metro Transit to restart bus and Northstar service Wednesday  

 

 

After buses and trains were shut down for days across the Twin Cities amid the fires and riots in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Metro Transit has announced a restart over the next two days.

                                                  Light rail service will resume on Thursday, June 4

 

METRO Blue & Green lines will resume service beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 4.

 

Once light rail service resumes, all Metro Transit service will have returned to the COVID-19 reduced service schedule. 

 

Operations staff continue to develop the best bus detours to serve our customers in the areas most impacted over the last week.

 

As we receive detour information it will be posted here, so check back often. Or sign-up today to receive an update by text or email for your specific route as soon as new detour information is available. 

 

A note about evening bus service

 

Gov. Walz has declared a 10 p.m. curfew on Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 4, for the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Buses will continue to operate as scheduled until 11 p.m. to provide service for people going back and forth to work, people seeking care and others.

 

Metro Mobility continues to offer service for essential healthcare workers as well as certified customers. More about scheduling trips.
