Penny, that lounge isn't very large at all. I'm not sure if they can hold luggage at all, much less luggage for 10 people. Anthony & I explored the lounge really quickly a few years back when AU was there. It's not much bigger than the one in MSP, although it does have a bit more in the way of refreshments IIRC and it is staffed unlike MSP.

Perhaps we can ask upon arrival just to be certain; but I certainly wouldn't count on them holding luggage at this point in time.
Alan,

Take care and take trains!

Penny you should be ok. The main issue is people begging for money why you are buying transit tickets. I hate this because I don't like being approached when I have my wallet out and am focusing on following directions on the machine. Hence my rather firm no last summer. And a profane verbal confrontation that ended with me calling 911 to report him. While there was probably no real danger, I wanted the guy to know that his aggressive annoying behavior was not welcome.

You should be safe once you have your ticket. And by the time you are going off on your own you will have tickets so there is less likelihood of being approached.

I saw that pizza place too. I recall being served lunch on the coast starlight as it departed pdx. I had eaten before boarding but ate a second lunch. Was stuffed the rest of the day.

I have no problem with 2 lunches. However I can't take that risk that I'll miss a meal, so I'd like to eat before we get on the train.  With a 2:25 PM scheduled departure, kind of late for lunch anyhow and it's only several hours before we get our onboard dinner.  And if by chance the train departs PDX late, well I'll be happier that I had that meal beforehand.

Kevin I agree with you. I was surprised by lunch being available. The sca wanted me to go to lunch since somebody had been in my room and he needed to clean it.

This is regarding lunch in Seattle on Wednesday 7/13, after arrival on the Empire Builder. This is one yet undecided aspect of the journey, and one that I assume will be an on-your-own affair if time allows. We probably won't want to venture too far from King Street Station. There are many restaurants at Pioneer Square, a few blocks to the north of the station. Many are listed here. There is also east of the station the International District where almost all of the food choices will be of the Asian variety.

I just added 75 restaurants to my Rails to Restaurants list for Pioneer Square in Seattle.

I frequent Grand Central Bakery/Cafe, which has some veggie items.  If you like deli, Salumi and Tat's get very high rating reviews.  I've been to Cafe Paloma for good Mediterranean.  Il Terrazzo is upscale Italian, very good, not too expensive for lunch.
