Is MTC hiding from Altamont?
Despite fears expressed by San Francisco Commissioner Tom Ammiano about taking action at its May 28 meeting, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) voted to deny a request by Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty, rail and ecology activists and three state legislators, to ask the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) to include an Altamont Pass route in its environmental studies of alternatives.
