India's first monorail makes maiden journey with passengers in Mumbai

Mumbai made history over the weekend, when the nation’s first monorail made its maiden journey with passengers — non-monorail personnel — on a trial run between Wadala and Chembur.

Bravo to Mumbai for getting the line up and running before its August due date!. But......dreadful color scheme!

It's an Act of change for monorail, to be on same page with metro

The monorail which is under the outdated Indian Tramways Act, 1886, will be done away with and be brought under the cover of the Metro Railways Act, 1978.

“In the coming years, the Mumbai monorail project will be under the Metro Railways Act, 1978 and not under the existing Indian Tramways Act, 1886,” said Ashwini Bhide, additional metropolitan commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
