Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2017

 

 

Calling all Bank of America Chicago Marathon runners and observers: The South Shore Line invites you to leave your vehicle at one of our convenient stations in Indiana and take the South Shore Line to Chicago for all Bank of America Chicago Marathon events.

 

Bank of America Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-Up: October 6

 

For the convenience of Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants, on Friday, October 6, the South Shore Line will stop the following trains at McCormick Place for those attending the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-up:

 

NOTE: Eastbound Trains 109, 119, 121 & 123 terminate in Michigan City; Train 209 terminates at Gary Metro Center; Trains 17 & 19 terminate in South Bend.

 

If you plan to go to the Expo on Saturday, October 7: All weekend trains except Train 601 serve McCormick Place as a flag stop. If you’d like to to exit at a flag stop at McCormick Place, please notify the conductor in advance of your stop. Conversely, when waiting to catch an outbound train at McCormick Place, please stand on the platform in clear view of train engineer.

 

Extra trains the day of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon: October 8: In addition to our regular weekend service, the South Shore Line will operate an extra early morning train arriving in Chicago at 6:04a CST, allowing marathon runners and spectators to sit back, relax and ride the South Shore Line.

 

Additionally, the South Shore Line will operate an extra eastbound train departing Millennium Station at 2:35p; serving Van Buren St. at 2:38p running non-stop to Hegewisch, making all intermediate stops and terminating in Michigan City. This eastbound extra will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.

On Sunday, October 8th, additional service will be provided on Metra lines to accommodate passengers attending the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. CTA selling first -ever commemorative, reloadable marathon-themed Ventra card

 

The Chicago Transit Authority is ready for the 40th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon, from special marathon-themed Ventra cards to getting you to the race on Sunday, Oct. 8.

 

The CTA will provide plenty of bus and rail service for convenient, affordable transportation to the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon at Grant Park on Sunday as well as the Abbott Health and Fitness Expo at McCormick Place on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, 2017, to pick up race packets, shop for running gear and more.

 

CTA is the best way to travel to the best viewing spots along the 26.2 miles of marathon course, with key locations listed at www.transitchicago.com (and below).

 

CTA is also offering for the first time special Chicago Marathon keepsake Ventra cards that come preloaded with a 3-day, 7-day pass, or $20 in transit value. The cards are reloadable and reusable just like a regular Ventra card.

 

CTA recommends allowing plenty of travel time and purchasing fares and unlimited-ride passes well ahead of time. More information about purchasing fares is below. CTA will have extra staff on race day and prior to the marathon at O’Hare and Midway International airports to assist customers with purchasing fares and providing travel information.

Metra to offer extra service for Bank of America Chicago Marathon

 

 
(October 5, 2017) - Metra will operate extra early morning inbound and early afternoon outbound trains on five of its lines for participants and spectators going to this Sunday’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

 

Extra service will be offered on the BNSF, Metra Electric, Milwaukee District North and Union Pacific Northwest and West lines. The service will run in addition to regularly scheduled Sunday trains. All other lines will operate on a regular Sunday schedule.

 

Whether you are running in the race or cheering on the runners, don’t forget to save money on your trip with Metra’s $8 Weekend Pass, good for unlimited rides on both Saturday and Sunday. Plus, weekend Family Fares allow up to three children 11 and under to ride free with a fare-paying adult. And remember, now when you ride Metra, you can buy tickets right from your smartphone with the Ventra App. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
