Amtrak issued an update at 9:15 AM Friday morning, however the only difference is the addition of this line:

An update on service for Saturday, Feb. 8, will be issued this afternoon.

The only problem is that Saturday is February 9th, which I'm sure is what they meant.

Sure would be nice if Amtrak and the authority administering the Downeaster would communicate with one another. We know already from the previous post and the one following what is "to be determined" with the Downeaster.

Downeaster update as of Saturday night 9 PM:

UPDATE: 9:00pm Saturday, February 9

UPDATED 2/9/13 AT 9:00pm.

Due to the MBTA suspending all service in Massachusetts, all Downeaster Trains have been cancelled for Saturday, February 9th.

Service will resume Sunday February 10th. Please see below

SOUTHBOUND

· Train 690: CANCELLED

· Train 692: MODIFIED – PORTLAND, ME TO BOSTON, MA Servicing all intermediate stations. Will NOT service Brunswick and Freeport, ME

· Train 694: REGULAR SCHEDULE

· Train 696: REGULAR SCHEDULE

· Train 698: MODIFIED-WILL OPERATE BRUNSWICK, ME TO HAVERHILL, MA. Servicing all intermediate stations. Will NOT service Woburn or Boston, MA

NORTHBOUND

· Train 691: - CANCELLED

· Train 693: - REGULAR SCHEDULE

· Train 695: - REGULAR SCHEDULE

· Train 697: - REGULAR SCHEDULE

· Train 699: MODIFIED-WILL OPERATE HAVERHILL, MA TO BRUNSWICK, ME Servicing all intermediate stations. Will NOT service Boston or Woburn, MA.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

690 & 691 are weather related. The changes involving the last trains of the day, 698 & 699, are due to the start of the bridge work, as previous scheduled and detailed in this thread. I think 699 in this announcement is a mistake -- it should only be going as far as Portland, not Brunswick. 695 would be the only northbound train through to Brunswick since 691 is cancelled. We know there are storage issues which don't allow trainsets to be stored in Brunswick overnight.
