Here's the press release now:

Christie Administration Announces Restoration of Limited Rail Service to Newark on Friday

Northeast Corridor Service to Operation on a Special Schedule Between Trenton and Newark Penn Station

North Jersey Coast Line Service to Operate Between Woodbridge and Newark Penn Station

Raritan Valley Line Service to Operate Between Raritan and Newark

November 1, 2012

Trenton, NJ – The Christie Administration announced the restoration of limited rail service on three of NJ TRANSIT’s rail lines starting Friday, November 2, as part of the Administration’s ongoing efforts to restore NJ TRANSIT service as soon as it becomes possible. This service restoration includes service along three lines: Northeast Corridor service between Trenton Transit Center and Newark Penn Station, North Jersey Coast Line service between Woodbridge and Newark Penn Station, and Raritan Valley Line service between Raritan and Newark Penn Station. A special schedule will be posted on njtransit.com by 7:00 p.m. this evening.

“As the backbone of the NJ TRANSIT rail system, the restoration of Northeast Corridor service is a significant step in providing a level of service to NJ TRANSIT’s customers,” said Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chairman James Simpson. “Our work is far from done, as we still face a number of operational challenges, but we will continue working tirelessly to further restore service where we can safely do so.”

Service to Penn Station New York will resume following Amtrak’s restoration of the Hudson River Tunnels and it’s signal system is complete.

On Thursday, November 1, NJ TRANSIT restored the majority of bus service throughout the state, operating full service on 68 bus routes in northern New Jersey and 18 bus routes in southern New Jersey, and restoring partial service on 58 bus routes in northern New Jersey and 17 routes in southern New Jersey. Also on Thursday, River Line service was restored between the Trenton Transit Center and the Entertainment Center in Camden, operating on a Sunday schedule. Limited Access Link paratransit service resumed operation as well.

NJ TRANSIT is advising customers of the following:

Rail Service:

Northeast Corridor: On Friday, November 2, service will resume between Trenton Transit Center and Newark Penn Station, operating on a special schedule.
North Jersey Coast Line: On Friday, November 2, service will resume between Woodbridge and Newark Penn Station, operating on a special schedule. Rail service between Bay Head and Woodbridge remains suspended. An assessment of rail infrastructure has revealed significant damage across the system, including:
Morgan Drawbridge in South Amboy sustained damage from boats and a trailer that collided into the bridge.
There are wires and trees down, as well as rail washouts (no ballast under the tracks), between South Amboy and Bay Head.
Raritan Valley Line: On Friday, November 2, service will resume between Raritan and Newark Penn Station only, operating on a special schedule. Rail service between High Bridge and Raritan remains suspended.
Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton, Main/Bergen and Atlantic City Rail lines: Service remains suspended. An assessment of rail infrastructure has revealed significant damage across the system, including:
There is major damage due to downed trees between Summit and Millburn, as well as in Denville and Morristown. There is also overhead wire damage, including signal wires, with support poles down in Lyons and Bernardsville. In addition, rail washouts (no ballast under the tracks) occurred at Kearny Junction, where Midtown Direct service connects to the Northeast Corridor. Rail washouts also occurred at several tracks in Hoboken Terminal and at Netcong Station.
Elsewhere on the rail system, local power outages have prevented NJ TRANSIT rail operations from being able to further test crossing gates and operating signals. In addition, hundreds of downed trees have fallen across the rail system, which have caused damage to overhead wires and signal wires. Several rail stations have sustained flood damage, including Hoboken Terminal.
Bus Service:

Bus service is operating on 68 bus routes in northern New Jersey and 18 bus routes in southern New Jersey, providing service over the entire routes with no detours or truncations. For a complete list, visit njtransit.com.
Partial service is operating on 58 bus routes in northern New Jersey and 17 routes in southern New Jersey, with detours or truncations due to ongoing impacts from Hurricane Sandy. For details, visit njtransit.com
Bus service on routes not listed remains suspended until further notice. Power outages in local communities have resulted in the loss of traffic control devices critical to safe operation in some areas. Downed tree limbs and power lines continue to make many roads impassable. Personnel are in the field reviewing and assessing these conditions in order to ensure that service is restored as soon as it becomes safe to do so.
Light Rail Service:

River Line is operating on a Sunday schedule between Trenton Transit Center and the Entertainment Center in Camden.
Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and Newark Light Rail service will remain suspended until further notice. There is currently no estimated time for resumption of service. An assessment of rail infrastructure has revealed significant damage across the system, including:
Newark Light Rail sustained flooding in Newark Penn Station, as well as major debris damage between Newark Penn and Branch Brook Park stations.
Hudson-Bergen Light Rail experienced track washouts at Port Imperial and West Side Avenue stations, as well as trees in the overhead wire in Weehawken and flooding in Hoboken.

Access Link:

Access Link service is operating in the following regions:
Region 2, which includes Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.
Region 3, which includes Atlantic, Cape May and Southern Ocean County.
Monthly Pass Extension:

NJ TRANSIT has extending the validity period for October monthly passes until Wednesday, November 7 for customer convenience.

Due to a power failure at the main control center, the expected Raritan & NJ Coast line returns to service did not happen. NJT is running NEC service and a few trains are servicing Woodbridge on the Coast line. The schedule for the NEC can be found here.

Not up on NJT's site yet, but the following comes from NJ.com & the AP:

More commuter rail lines are scheduled to resume operation Monday, but many New Jersey commuters still will have to get creative to get to work.

NJ Transit Executive Director James Weinstein said Friday that service would resume to varying degrees on trains from Bergen County and the New Jersey coast, where track damage could take several more weeks to fully repair. He estimated it would be four to five weeks before all trains would be running again, and even then some might run on adjusted schedules.

The full story, which does go into some detail by line can be found here.

The Saturday update for NJT. Looks like they're going to try again to restore some of those lines originally expected to operate yesterday.

Christie Administration Announces NJ TRANSIT to Resume Service on Four Rail Lines Sunday Morning

Trenton, NJ – Marking key milestones in NJ TRANSIT’s continued recovery, the Christie Administration announced this evening that four additional rail lines would resume service effective Sunday morning. Coming on the heels of the Northeast Corridor’s return to New York Penn Station on Friday morning, the announcements continue the statewide agency’s service restoration efforts following the significant damage incurred by Hurricane Sandy earlier this week.

Effective Sunday morning:

North Jersey Coast Line will resume limited service to New York Penn Station, operating between Woodbridge and New York.

Raritan Valley Line service will resume limited service between Raritan and Newark Penn Station.

The Main/Port Jervis Line will resume limited service, with trains originating and terminating in Secaucus.

The Atlantic City Line will resume normal service, operating between Atlantic City and Philadelphia.

Special schedules detailing this restored service can be accessed by visiting njtransit.com.

“These announcements mark important milestones in NJ TRANSIT’s ongoing recovery efforts,” said Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chairman James Simpson. “While this is great news for our customers, the road to recovery continues. NJ TRANSIT crews continue working around the clock to restore service for our customers.”

NJ TRANSIT advises customers of the following:

Rail Service:

Northeast Corridor: Remains in service between Trenton Transit Center and New York Penn Station, with the exception of service to Jersey Avenue. Service continues to operate on a special schedule.

North Jersey Coast Line: On Sunday, November 4, service will resume between Woodbridge and New York Penn Station, with the exception of Avenel. Service will operate on a weekend schedule.

Main/Port Jervis Line: On Sunday, November 4, service will resume operating on a special schedule. The Main Line will operate from Suffern to Secaucus making all local stops. The Port Jervis Line will operate from Port Jervis to Secaucus making all local stops via Main Line. Service between Secaucus and Hoboken remains suspended until further notice.

On Monday, November 5, service will resume between Raritan and Newark Penn Station only, operating on special schedule. Rail service between High Bridge and Raritan remains suspended

Atlantic City Line: On Sunday, November 4, service will resume operating on a Sunday schedule on November 4 and weekday schedule on November 5.

Bergen Line, Pascack Valley Line, Montclair-Boonton Line and the Morris & Essex Lines: Service remains suspended.

A number of rail stations throughout the system may have limited lighting and no elevator and escalator service due to power problems as a result of Hurricane Sandy. As a result, Secaucus Junction will not be ADA accessible until further notice. Customers are urged to use caution in and around all rail stations.

Additionally, NJ TRANSIT encourages customers to travel outside of the morning and afternoon peak periods to avoid delays and crowding.

An emergency busing plan from NJT, plus the small tidbit about partial restoration of the HBLRT:

Christie Administration Implements Emergency Trans-Hudson Access Plan Starting Monday Morning

Trenton, NJ – Coming on the heels of NJ TRANSIT’s restoration of rail and bus service to New York and utilizing federal and regional transportation resources to ease traffic congestion, improve trans-Hudson access and further help New Jersey residents navigate around the state, the Christie Administration today announced an emergency bus plan designed to transport New Jersey residents back to their jobs starting Monday morning.

The emergency bus service will provide transportation options for NJ TRANSIT customers, with access to ferries, light rail and employment in Hoboken, Weehawken, Jersey City and Manhattan. This temporary emergency service is anticipated to provide approximately 50% of NJ TRANSIT’s normal rail rush hour service.

While NJ TRANSIT system restoration progress continues, NJ TRANSIT is still several weeks away from full service restoration. Emergency conditions still exist across the NJ TRANSIT system and will continue for some time for regular commuters. For instance, NJ TRANSIT normally operates 63 trains into New York Penn Station during the morning peak. Tomorrow, NJ TRANSIT will only be able to operate 13 trains into New York during the peak – pending critically needed repairs to be completed by Amtrak. Customers are advised to start their commute outside of the 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. peak period to avoid overcrowding.

“The emergency bus plan utilizes federal, regional and statewide resources to help the Garden State return to work,” said Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chairman James Simpson. “Led by Governor Christie and incorporating assets made available by the federal government, regional transportation partners and our statewide transit system, the resulting collaborative approach has resulted in a plan which will help New Jersey residents return to work on Monday.”

Utilizing the regional transportation network with a base of operations out of park-and-ride locations in central and northern sections of New Jersey, emergency buses will transport customers to light rail and ferry services in Hoboken, Weehawken, and HBLR’s Liberty State Park Station as well as providing limited, direct service to several boarding locations in lower Manhattan. The busing plan will remain in effect until further notice and operate on weekdays during the peak travel periods of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In addition, free ferry service will be available from Liberty State Park Marina to Battery Park.

The resumption of limited Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service between Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen and Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken in 20 minute intervals starting at 6 a.m. The launch of emergency service continues the statewide agency’s service restoration efforts following the significant damage incurred by Hurricane Sandy earlier this week. NJ TRANSIT will also be operating a shuttle service from Hoboken Terminal south to Marin Blvd in Jersey City to further offer additional access for customers seeking to return to work.

Emergency bus service to Lower Manhattan has been coordinated following the approval of, and collaboration with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey as well as the New York City Department of Transportation. Pick-up and drop off locations will take place at the following, designated Suburban Transportation bus stops:

Greenwich Street between Battery Place & Morris Street.
Trinity Place between Rector & Thames Streets
Church St. between Warren & Chambers Streets
Church St. between Reade & Duane Streets
“While the hard working men and women of NJ TRANSIT have made substantial progress, the full restoration of service is still several weeks away,” said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director James Weinstein. “Our rail infrastructure is still heavily damaged and our rail capacity into New York Penn Station can only transport a fraction of our weekday customers. These are extraordinary times, the busing plan announced today will help bring our customers back to work – and just a little bit closer to resuming their everyday lives.”

Customers utilizing the emergency bus service plan can ride the buses at no cost. Customers utilizing ferry and light rail services will still be responsible for paying normal light rail and ferry fares.

Buses will operate to and from the following limited-capacity transportation hubs:

A. Hoboken Service

Bridgewater (Patriots Stadium)

NJ TRANSIT to operate 15 buses from Patriots Stadium to Hoboken Terminal from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for light rail/ferry connections.
