ArticlePreaching safety as Perris Valley Line starts rolling
As Metrolink crews gear up to start service along the Perris Valley Line on June 6, rail officials have been out in full force promoting a message of train safety to communities that don’t typically see more than one or two trains in their neighborhoods each day.

Perris Valley Line offers not only a smooth ride, but sightseeing, too
The new Metrolink line between Riverside and Perris passes through what I think must be one of the prettiest stretches in the entire passenger rail system.
On the rollout tour for media and elected officials Wednesday, the train left the Hunter Park station headed south, hugging the edge of Box Springs Mountain, around graceful curves through rocky hillsides above quiet neighborhoods around UCR.

A New Metrolink Extension to Riverside Opens on Monday
So, March’s Gold Line extension opening and May’s new Expo Line to the beach weren’t enough to make you hop on the train? Well, if you live out in the suburbs near Riverside, there’s another new rail option coming your way.

Here is that story.Metrolink extends to Moreno Valley
Commuting into Los Angeles may be getting a little easier for those of us in the Coachella Valley.
Metrolink will begin operating trains into Perris Valley with a stop in Moreno Valley, which means riders from the Palm Springs region no longer need to drive into downtown Riverside to catch the southern California commuter train system.

The Southern California Railway Museum (nee Orange Empire Railway Museum) is very close to Metrolink's South Perris station. I'm not sure whether that's a walkable distance, however.

The Southern California Railway Museum (nee Orange Empire Railway Museum) is very close to Metrolink's South Perris station. I'm not sure whether that's a walkable distance, however.
But again, the schedule does not allow for one to ride outbound, spend more than a few hours in South Perris (such as attending a museum) and then return same day. And no weekend service at all on the Perris extension.
