Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) website tells us that while the entire bus system has been pulled off the streets, the intention is to keep the light rail line running.

CATS Bus Service

CATS Bus Service will discontinue at 6:00 pm today due to Inclement Weather

All Routes

Due to heavy snow and slick roads the Charlotte Area Transit System will discontinue all bus service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. The last buses of the day will be scheduled to depart from the Charlotte Transportation Center at 6:00 p.m. The neighborhood bus routes will also discontinue service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. CATS ran early express service beginning at 1:30 p.m. and thus no additional express service will operate on Wednesday, February 12.

LYNX Blue Line light rail service will continue to operate on the regular weekday schedule today, Wednesday, February 12.

Special Transportation Service (STS), which is the door-to-door service CATS provides to the disabled, has had a large number of customers call to cancel their rides. Thus, STS has its last pick-up scheduled at 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, February 12.

CATS will continue to assess conditions through the night and will communicate through our website and Twitter accounts, the City/County JIC and local media a decision early Thursday morning on the status of bus and rail services based on road conditions.

Up-to-date status of routes and detours are best obtained from the Website and Twitter: http://www.ridetransit.org/ and @CATSRideTransit.
