Last week, I thought I saw some construction on Jackson Street around International District Station. Good to see the progress, the city is growing. Once again back above 600,000 residents.

MyNorthwest.com

I was able to get to my nephew's birthday dinner last night in Northgate with a good combination of the 39-Central LINK-41 routes. Not sure, I think I even bet my brother there!(We live in the same neighborhood, not enough room in the car for everybody). Just a little nervous about the progress slowing down with one of the two candidates for Governor. I remember McKenna when he was on the Sound Transit Board, and Metropolitan King County Council, he voted to take bus service hours from Seattle(the 40/40/20 rule), and at times, was voting against LINK Light Rail. One of the reasons I was able to get out to Northgate so fast, was I got lucky and caught the 39. The 39 was barely reliable before I-695 and the 40/40/20 rule,

Actually, the idea has always been to extend north to East Aloha Street, one block north of East Roy. In my mind, this would be minor compensation for the fact that U-Link, while tunneling directly under Volunteer Park, is NOT building a station there. This despite the fact that V.P. is a major "people" destination, with a great park, the V. P. Water Tower, the V. P. Conservatory and the Seattle Asian Art Museum, not to mention Seattle's most famous cemetery, Lakeview, just adjacent to the north. The park would have been a great station stop, but it will now never happen. Aloha and Broadway is close enough for most to walk to V. P. from, albeit uphill. Therefore, one could reach the park from downtown using only rail (and feet).

Funds found for actual extension to East Roy Street. The usual bitching and moaning from businesses, who only stand to gain from the added trackage. Story and video from King5-TV.

Pretty much sums up the usual. I like Powell's Books in Portland. Had some disruption when Westside MAX was built, almost opposed the streetcar, read up on, and then got on board, ever since.

Start up date not yet announced, but infrastructure work largely complete.
From Seattle Streetcar website. Testing to begin in earnest.
