BALTIMORE, MD – As a way to ensure the safety and reliability of riding on Metro Subway, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will conduct some necessary maintenance work on both the eastbound and westbound Metro tracks from April 18 through April 26. Track work will include replacing older rails with newer ones, and working on the track’s drainage system. The work will be performed between the Rogers Avenue Station and the Portal, which is the underground tunnel that leads to the eight underground Metro stations.
Metro trains will run continuously during the track work project, but will operate along a single track between the affected areas. Only one track at a time will be out of service. As a result, passengers should plan for 10 to 15 minutes delays during the days mentioned.
For more details on MTA services, customers can call 410-539-5000; TTY for persons who are hearing and/or speech impaired, 410-539-3497, or, visit the MTA’s web site at www.mtamaryland.com.

Actually, the portal is the entrance to the tunnel, not the tunnel itself. This was probably written by the same MTA staff member who wrote that "light rail service is delayed due to a train becoming disconnected from the tracks" (or something similar) in a previous service advisory. (Yes, yes, I know I remember way too many details)
