Hurricane Sandy Service Advisory
Sunday October 28.2012 6:00pm
At this time, MBCR and the MBTA are planning to operate normal scheduled service Monday and Tuesday. Customers should be prepared for significant delays and disruptions as conditions change and are encouraged to check http://MBTA.com/ or local media before going out.
Safety is MBCR’s first priority throughout this storm and we have assigned crews and equipment to be on standby to clear debris as quickly and safely as possible. Crews will be ready to inspect and monitor any flood areas. MBCR also has assigned staff to ensure delivery of accurate, timely messages through all available communication channels, including T Alerts, LED message boards, and social media streams.
Please note all communication channels are subject to system availability in the event of power outages.
In closing, MBCR is working closely with Governor Patrick’s staff, MassDOT, the MBTA, MEMA, and the U.S. Coast Guard to identify problems as they arise and coordinate a swift, safe response. MBCR will continue to stockpile material and make all necessary arrangements throughout the remainder of the weekend in order to be prepared for the impact of Hurricane Sandy and recovery of commuter rail service after the storm subsides.
Thank you in advance for your patience as staff prepares to address the potential impacts of Hurricane Sandy. Our team will do everything possible to minimize service delays while ensuring the safety of passengers and employees.

More story washes up here.
Transport chief: It could happen here
The kind of ferocious floods that have crippled New York City and its transit system in the wake of superstorm Sandy could prove “catastrophic” here in the Boston, according to the state’s transportation honcho, as rising sea levels have made the city, its Big Dig tunnels and century-old subway vulnerable to an angry sea.

MBTA angers riders with shutdown on short notice
Thanks for nothing, MBTA!
That was how commuters who braved the storm, catching trolleys to show up at work, felt about the belated midmorning announcement that the T would be suspending operations at 2 p.m. — a decision transit systems in New York and Washington, D.C., made and announced a day earlier after determining that Sandy’s rains, tides and winds would disrupt service.
