Progressive Railroading, 8/31:

New STB website address to reflect agency's independence

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) will change its website address, a reflection of a legislative change in the board's status as a federal agency.

The board will change its website address to "www.stb.gov" after the close of business on Sept. 9. The new address replaces the current address, "www.stb.dot.gov," to reflect the board's new status as a federal agency that is independent of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

STB news release, 8/29:

ecblank.gifSURFACE TRANSPORTION BOARD WEBSITE ADDRESS CHANGING TO

“WWW.STB.GOV”   ecblank.gifecblank.gifecblank.gif

The Surface Transportation Board is advising the public of an upcoming change to its Internet website address. After the close of business on Friday, September 9, 2016, the agency’s website address will be converted to “www.stb.gov” replacing its current address, “www.stb.dot.gov.” The address change reflects the STB’s status as a wholly independent federal agency, as a result of the STB Reauthorization Act of 2015, which eliminated the STB’s administrative affiliation with the U.S. Department of Transportation. Stakeholders are encouraged to update bookmarks and other links to “www.stb.gov” following the change.

In connection with this change, the agency’s website will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Friday, September 2, 2016 and from 5:00 pm on Friday, September 9 to 11:59 pm on Saturday, September 10. After the change to “www.stb.gov” is completed, website functionality will resume, and stakeholders will be able to access and use the site for e-filing, research, information and other purposes.

Please note that email addresses for agency personnel will continue to use the “@stb.dot.gov” suffix. However, it is anticipated that staff email addresses will be migrated to the “@stb.gov” suffix in the coming weeks. A public announcement of this change will be made shortly.

As has been his practice, Chairman Elliott noted that the Board will continue to notify the public of important actions taken by the agency regarding Reauthorization Act implementation.
