Tropical Storms Lead Amtrak to Cancel New Orleans service

Sunset Limited, Crescent and City of New Orleans trains affected
Predicted landfall by two tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico is leading Amtrak to cancel service to and from New Orleans for several days.
· Sunset Limited, Trains 1 & 2, normally operate tri-weekly between New Orleans and Los Angeles, via San Antonio. Instead, eastbound Train 2 from Los Angeles on August 23 will terminate in San Antonio and westbound Train 1 will originate from San Antonio on August 27. No substitute transportation is available between San Antonio and New Orleans.
· Crescent, Trains 19 & 20, normally operate daily between New Orleans and New York City, via Atlanta. Instead, southbound Train 19 from New York on August 23, 24 & 25 will terminate in Atlanta and northbound Train 20 will originate in Atlanta on August 24, 25 & 26. No substitute transportation is available between Atlanta and New Orleans.
· City of New Orleans, Trains 58 & 59, normally operate daily between New Orleans and Chicago. Instead, southbound Train 59 from Chicago is canceled on August 24 & 25 and northbound Train 58 from New Orleans is canceled for August 25 & 26. Substitute transportation is only available from Carbondale, Ill., and points north on Amtrak Illini and Saluki trains.
Anyone planning to travel should check their train status on Amtrak.com or our smartphone apps prior to departing, allow extra time to get to the station and be extremely careful in stations and on platforms.
Customers with reservations on trains that are being modified will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will gladly waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 800-USA-RAIL.
