VRE To Cancel Service For Friday, September 19

After carefully reviewing the weather predictions and conferring with our host railroads, VRE has made the decision not to operate service for Friday, September 19. Although conditions are expected to improve as Friday progresses, the early morning hours are expected to be somewhat tricky. Predicted sustained winds of 40mph through 4:00a will likely cause downed trees and power outages making the commute difficult and unpredictable.

As we said in our earlier messages, although our host railroads, Norfolk Southern and CSX have been very cooperative and committed to assisting VRE to operate, we do not have a comfort level that we can operate service reliably and safely.

Thank you for your continued support. We wish you a safe and happy weekend
