ARLINGTON - Metroplex transportation leaders say they will miss next week's deadline to comment on the state's proposed toll road bypassing Interstate 35 because they're still evaluating whether the road would damage the area's economy.

TxDOT seeks Valley’s input on northward route

TxDOT says the TOPRS study is warranted because I-35 is congested and will only become more so as Texas’ population and economy continue to grow. The agency claims that passenger rail service could meet many travelers’ needs and that the study will provide “a blueprint for feasible rail improvements.”

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is hosting meetings in February to solicit public comments on a proposed Texas-Oklahoma passenger-rail study.

High-speed rail could expand to Austin, San Antonio, Oklahoma and Mexico

Plans for high-speed rail took an ambitious turn Wednesday as public officials agreed to look into a connection from Fort Worth to Austin, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
