Newark Liberty International Airport Station to Open July 3 - Newark Airport Station AirTrain Service will Resume
Effective July 3, 2014
Rail service to and from the Newark Liberty International Airport train station resumes Thursday, July 3, and the AirTrain Newark monorail connecting with the airport will be back in service.
Effective May 1 - July 2, 2014
Effective May 1, 2014 and continuing through the summer, rail service to and from Newark Liberty
International Airport station (EWR) will be suspended to allow the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to perform critical repair work to AirTrain, which links the rail station to the airport. Substitute shuttle bus service will be available in both directions between Newark Penn Station and the airport.
Booking Travel to/from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Passengers should utilize the normal booking methods (Amtrak.com, Quik-Trak, Amtrak mobile apps, etc.) to and from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). For passengers going to the airport, the system will indicate rail travel to Newark Penn Station and a connecting service to the airport. For passengers leaving the airport, the system will indicate connecting service from the airport to Newark Penn Station and rail service to their destination.
Getting to/from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Amtrak passengers traveling to the airport will detrain at Newark Penn Station, where Port Authority shuttle buses will provide service from the station to each airport terminal. Shuttle service will be free of charge to passengers who present the bus driver with a ticket/travel document designating travel to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Amtrak passengers at the airport will board Port Authority shuttle buses to Newark Penn Station, where they may board the train. Shuttle service will be free of charge to passengers who present the bus driver with an Amtrak ticket/travel document designating travel from the airport to Newark Penn Station. Please note that passengers may board any available shuttle bus and will not need to wait for the scheduled departure printed on their ticket. Personnel and signage will be available at Newark Penn Station and at the airport to provide assistance and direction.
Travel Time
While actual bus travel times will vary, travel between Newark Penn Station and the airport typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. Amtrak schedules indicate a 50 minute travel time to and from the airport to account for unanticipated driving delays.

AirTrain service has resumed at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The 6.3-mile service started shuttling passengers between terminals today after two months of repairs were finished ahead of schedule.
