SEPTA Stations Snow Removal and Maintenance Plan Feb. 16 – 17

Published
February 16, 2024

Snowfall is expected to begin around 1 am Saturday (2/17) and continue throughout the morning; this latest winter storm could leave several inches of snow throughout the Philadelphia region & SEPTA service area. Beginning Friday afternoon (2/16), SEPTA in-house crews will pretreat station platforms and walkways to maintain safe and accessible conditions.

SEPTA in-house crews will be deployed at midnight through Saturday morning to clear and treat.

Snow removal contractors will be deployed at 6 am to clear and salt Regional Rail and Norristown High Speed Line (NHSL) platforms and parking lots for the duration of this winter storm. SEPTA forces support contractors to clear crosswalks at Regional Rail and NHSL stations.

Forecasted Snowfall May Impact AM Commutes

The 180 Regional Rail & NHSL stations span an area of 280 miles; even with multiple crews hard at work, it takes up to 12 hours to clear the entire system. SEPTA encourages everyone to be patient and exercise caution as we work to make all platforms, walkways and parking lots clear, safe and accessible.

The storm may cause delays to your morning and afternoon commute; please allow for additional travel time so that you arrive safely. If possible, use the Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines, which may be your best options during winter storms.

SEPTA Customer Service (215-580-7800) is available Monday – Friday 7 am – 7 pm, Saturday – Sunday 8 am – 5 pm. For brief questions, use our  Chat Now  to speak with a SEPTA team member.
