Newark, NJ Star-Ledger, 3/10/13:

To use a Super Bowl analogy, the train platforms at NJ Transit’s Secaucus Junction station are 40 yards short of the goal line.

NJ Transit wants to extend two platforms on the lower level of the station by 120 feet to allow the longer trains needed to handle the crush of Super Bowl travelers to MetLife Stadium in February.

Full story is here.

Critics might question doing this work for a one-time event, since this is probably the only time ten-car trains will use the station. They handle regular football games and concerts with 6 and 8-car trains.
