Phoenix passes $30 billion transportation plan
Phoenix voters will decide on a $30 billion-plus transportation plan funded in part by a sales tax increase after the City Council on Tuesday approved sending it to the ballot.
Residents will vote as soon as August on a 0.70 percent sales tax, or $0.70 on a $100 purchase, that would be in place from 2016 through 2050 to fund transportation.
The city's current transit sales tax is 0.40 percent.
