MARC service alert 3/1/18:

Severe weather forecast Friday, train delays may result, updates will be posted and emailed

MARC Train management and our contractors (Amtrak, Bombardier Transportation Services, and CSX Transportation) are closely monitoring the severe weather forecast to impact our area on Friday.  Given the forecast for sustained high winds, with gusts up to 60mph, trains may experience delays due to downed trees, power lines, and other issues.  Updates will be posted to our website, https://nam01.safeli...hHc=&reserved=0 , and E-alerts will be issued as well.

We ask all passengers to be especially careful when traveling tomorrow.  Watch for downed trees and airborne debris.  Remember, always assume that a downed power line is live -- NEVER touch or drive over downed power lines.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.

MARC service alert, 11:03 pm 3/1/18:

R schedule on all three lines Friday due to severe weather conditions, full details:

In response to the National Weather Service forecast for tomorrow and after consulting our host railroads and contractors, MARC Train will operate an "R" schedule on Friday, March 2.  Only trains with an "R" under the train number in the Camden and Penn Line timetables and Brunswick Line trains listed in the special grid on the right side of the timetable will operate. In addition, some trains will make additional stops when operating on the "R" schedule as noted in the timetable grid.

Please note that the "R" schedule replaces the former "S" schedule and that there have been changes made to which trains operate on this reduced service schedule. Carefully review the timetables to ensure that the train you want to ride is operating.

Passengers should especially take note of the following:

--The last Penn Line train to Perryville will depart Washington at 6:23pm and the last train to Baltimore will depart Washington at 7:40pm.  We will update Penn Line passengers regarding the operation of Trains 453 and 452 (9:25pm departure from Penn Station and 10:40pm departure from Union Station).  There is a possibility that these trains will operate.  Updates will be provided by 1:00pm on Friday.

--Brunswick Line Train 881 terminates in Brunswick on the "R" schedule.  Passengers traveling west of Brunswick must be on Train 875, departing Washington at 4:25pm.  Please also note that Train 871 (normally the Friday-only 1:30pm departure from Union Station) WILL NOT operate.

--The last Camden Line departure from Washington to Baltimore is Train 858 at 6:55pm.

If you must travel tomorrow, please be extremely careful.  As was mentioned in our earlier advisory, we ask all passengers to be especially careful when traveling tomorrow. Watch for downed trees and airborne debris. Remember, always assume that a downed power line is live -- NEVER touch or drive over downed power lines.

Any additional modifications to Friday service will be updated as they are received.

Thank you for riding MARC Train.

MARC service alert 5:20 am 3/2/18:

All MARC service on all three lines suspended today due to severe weather

MARC Train service will not operate on Friday, March 2 due to the severe weather affecting the region.  The Federal Government is closed and many other transportation providers are curtailing service.   Trees are beginning to fall blocking tracks and signal failures are occurring.

We regret any inconvenience due to the suspension of service, however, the safety of our passengers and employees is our first and foremost concern.

A decision regarding the status of weekend Penn Line service for Saturday, March 3 will be made later today.
