It appears the fest has officially ended. There is a group of about 10 of us hanging out in the in Club Acela right now. A very good weekend for sure.

Yes the Fest has been completed.   We did our ride out to Wiehle/Reston East and back, riding only the Red and Silver Lines.  Initially the Red Line was running later than the published construction schedule, so naturally we missed the connection at Metro Center with the Silver Line and had to wait until the next one.   Because of this delay, it was decided that it was in our best interests to skip Tysons Corner as a lunch stop and just headed back downtown -- since many had to catch trains home.  Instead, we ate together in the lower level food court at Union Station.  On our way back, the Red Line train we caught at Metro Center happened to be a gap filler train that only went as far as Judiciary Square. We knew this when we boarded it, but we decided to make our way partially towards Union Station.  After we were dumped at Judiciary Square we had to wait about 15 minutes until the next train came to transport us onward to Union Station, one stop away.

Look what we would have just missed had we gone to Tyson's Corner Mall!

WTOP radio, 1/18:

Power restored at Tysons Corner mall

WASHINGTON — The electricity has been restored at the Tysons Corner mall in northern Virginia, according to a spokesman at Dominion Virginia Power.

The electricity went out shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, closing shops and forcing a mass evacuation from the mall.

Continue w/ audio report.

The mall was evacuated during the power outage.

Wow that is amazing --- glad we avoided that fate.  We surely could have been evacuated during a meal, and that would not have made me a happy camper.  And imagine all the evacuees waiting for the same trains running at 20 minute headways. Would have made for a crowded trip back.

All right, it took until 1 AM for me to figure out how to recount our Sunday on Metro, given the decision to eat downtown and the delay in the morning on the Red Line in addition to us making an unplanned 20+ minute visit to Judiciary Square. My aim was to do it and do it right, so here is our complete itinerary with actual times, now done for the entire Fest. The "T" word has been removed!

Final count of participants for the weekend remains at 21. However two who had been listed as "both" were changed to "Sat" because they SAT out on Sunday.

Specifically for Sunday, we had 15 who started out the day at Union Station, and gained one more for our maximum of 16 when Ross came from home and joined us westbound on the Silver Line at Virginia Square. We began to break up when we got back to Metro Center from the eastbound Silver Line trip, as 3 opted for Uber car service back to Union Station to avoid the Metro mess and get to the Club Acela in time for their Acela Express departure. After lunch some stayed in the lounge, several of us walked over to see the streetcars on H Street, and slowly the numbers dwindled as folks caught their respective trains, and in at least one case, a plane.

I enjoyed the ride on the silver line. It was interesting to see the junction with the orange line. And then the swing away from the freeway median to pass tysons corner mall. Once this reaches Dulles then Dulles will be an option for flying to Washington, D.C. For many.

Dulles is already a much better option with just a 12 min bus ride on realtively low traffic road, than the struggle into Washington DC by road.

Looks like 15-20 minute headways depending on the time of day on weekdays, and a steady 20 minute headway on weekends.
