TRI-RAIL SUSPENDS SERVICE AS OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND

Tri-Rail trains will cease operations Wednesday evening, September 1 until further notice due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Frances. The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, which operates Tri-Rail, was notified by CSXT late this afternoon that they needed to begin securing the crossing gates at sunrise on Thursday.

"At this point in time it is impossible to predict how long the service suspension will last," said Joe Giulietti, Executive Director. "We hope to resume operations as soon as possible after the storm passes, but that will depend on the amount of damage the corridor sustains."

Passengers are encouraged to monitor local news reports, www.tri-rail.com,
800-TRI-RAIL, and VIP messages for the latest updates.

The full press release can be found here.
Alan,

Take care and take trains!

From Tri-Rail's website:

Tri-Rail limited service restored 9/8

Tri-Rail will resume limited service on Wednesday morning, September 8th. Trains will operate on a regular weekday schedule between the Deerfield Beach and Miami International Airport stations ONLY. Signal outages make it impossible to operate service effectively in Palm Beach County, at this time. All fares will be waived through Sunday, September 12th. Please monitor the local news, this website or call 800-TRI-RAIL for the latest service updates.
